Exeter K-9 Unit
Officer Darrin Gartner, narcotics. Officer Brian Eveland, explosives.
Officer Terry Reichart, explosives. Officer Andrew Walbert, narcotics.
Ask any K-9 handler and they will be the first to tell you that a highly trained police dog is one of the best
partners a law enforcement officer can have. The Exeter K-9 Unit provides a number of invaluable support services to the agency's mission.
The agency's K-9s are called upon to
search for fleeing suspects and perform building searches. K-9s are also tasked with searching for narcotics and explosives. They are without a doubt, one of the agency's finest crime fighting
assets.
Dogs imported from Germany, Czechoslovakia and Holland come from the venders with guarantees that they will be healthy and able to pass the basic police dog courses. Dogs that are
found not suitable, for any reason during training, are rotated back to the vender and replaced with new candidates.
